Call for nominations

Eligibility:

  • Applications can be made by any student registered in an Anthropology Doctoral degree programme at a Canadian university.

Criteria:

  • An outstanding academic record, and an excellent research proposal with innovative scholarly import and social relevance. All applicants must be current CASCA members.

Value:

  • $1,500

Deadline:

  • All application materials must be post-marked no later than March 18, 2011.

Each applicant must send to the address below:

  1. This form (click here to download the application form) , signed, with items 2-4 attached.
  2. Statement of academic programme, including studies completed, in progress and planned (1 page).
  3. Research proposal, including - scholarly and social significance; and relevance to local people, if appropriate (2 pages).
  4. Budget for research, including planned use of award funds, requests to other sources and funds received to date (1/2 to 1 page).
  5. Transcripts of university education (directly from the universities).
  6. Two letters of reference, about the applicant and the research proposal (sent directly by referees).
  7. A copy of the university ethics approval for the research (may be after the 19 March deadline).

Note: Electronic or Faxed submissions are not permissible.

  • Make sure your name appears at the top of each page you submit.
  • Research must be under way during the year beginning 1 April 2011.
  • The Award recipient will be announced at the CASCA AGM to be held in Fredericton in May 2011.
  • Award recipients must provide a report on their research results and the contribution of the Award funds to the research by 1 April 2012, or when their fieldwork ends. Original receipts for research expenses totalling at least $1,500 must be submitted to the CASCA Treasurer when submitting the final report.
  • Decisions from the Awards Committee are final.
