Tier 2 Canada Research Chair:Human Dimensions of Environmental Change

Mount Allison University invites applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Human Dimensions of Environmental Change. The Canada Research Chair programme, established by the Government of Canada, promotes internationally-recognized research.

Mount Allison University, located in Sackville, New Brunswick, is one of Canada’s outstanding undergraduate liberal arts universities. With an enrolment of 2,300 students, it is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research.

Mount Allison University contributes to the training of the researchers of tomorrow through programs that support student involvement in independent research as well as faculty research. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications, and will be conditional on the applicant being approved as a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair. Salary will be based upon rank of appointment and recommended salary as a Canada Research Chair.

The preferred appointment date is January 1, 2011.

The appointment will complement and provide leadership in the established focus on environmental studies and sustainable development at Mount Allison University. Although this is primarily a research appointment, the appointee will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level and to supervise undergraduate students. The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related discipline; a strong research and publication record; and the ability to establish readily an active externally-funded research program. The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate academic unit within the university.

Review of applications will begin on February 15, 2010 and continue until the position is filled.

Candidates should submit a letter of application, a curriculum vitae that includes a record of relevant research, clear plans for future research, and a sample of their scholarly work. They should arrange for three letters of reference to be sent.
