Tier 2 Canada Research Chair: Native Studies
Brandon University invites applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Native Studies. The University seeks an individual with a PhD obtained within the last ten years and an outstanding and internationally-recognized research profile. The successful candidate will explore issues relating to Western Canada’s First Nations or Métis communities through historical or sociological perspectives. The particular disciplinary perspective is otherwise open. The successful candidate will have an established record of attracting competitively awarded research funding, including funding from the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council of Canada or similar national granting agencies.
The candidate will be expected to develop and enhance collaborations with members of other disciplines such as Anthropology, Gender & Women’s Studies, History, Political Science, Sociology, and Rural & Community Development. The CRC will also play an important role in shaping new initiatives for graduate programs in the Faculty of Arts. Initial appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The CRC will be awarded for a five-year period, renewable once, and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Canada Research Chairs Program (www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca).
