Termes et conditions: Ce poste est assujetti à la politique de promotion des chercheurs du Musée; avec un salaire potentiel maximal de 116 787 $.

La Division Archaéologie et Histoire est présentement à la recherche d’une personne dynamique capable, sous la supervision du Directeur de la Division Archéologie et Histoire, de proposer, faire des recherches et planifier des expositions; entreprendre la planification et la mise en œuvre de projets de recherche orientés vers les problèmes spécifiques à l’archéologie de l’Ouest canadien et des régions environnantes; diffuser les résultats de ces recherches auprès d'une clientèle variée sur des plateformes multiples y compris les revues scientifiques et les expositions; agir à titre de conservateur et participer à la planification d’expositions supplémentaires, le cas échéant; contribuer au développement des collections et à l’élaboration des programmes publics; faire preuve de leadership professionnel en utilisant ses connaissances pour informer et influencer différents auditoires sur l’archéologie de l’Ouest canadien; accomplir des tâches connexes.

À titre de candidat(e) idéal(e), vous détenez un Doctorat (Ph D ou l’équivalent) en archéologie du Canada.

Vous possédez une connaissance:

  • De l’archéologie des Prairies des provinces canadiennes et/ou la Colombie Britannique ainsi que les régions environnantes;
  • De la  recherche fondamentale et des méthodes de recherche en archéologie et dans les disciplines connexes;
  • De la recherche appliquée en milieu muséal;
  • Des programmes et des activités du Musée canadien des civilisations.

Vous possédez de l’expérience dans:

  • La conduite d’une recherche complexe et approfondie sur l’archéologie de l’Ouest canadien et des régions avoisinantes;
  • La rédaction de livres savants et d’articles scientifiques, et dans la communication avec des plateformes multiples, portant sur l’archéologie de l’Ouest canadien  et les sujets qui y sont liés;
  • Le développement d’expositions;
  • La documentation et l’utilisation des collections du musée;
  • La présentation de renseignements au moyen d’écrits de vulgarisation, de conférences et d’expositions à l’intention du public.

Puisque vous devrez travailler dans un environnement hautement informatisé, une expérience démontrée des logiciels de traitement de texte (Word), de chiffrier électronique (Excel), de présentation (Power Point)  et de courrier électronique (Outlook) est requise.

Established in 1818, Dalhousie is one of Canada’s top teaching and research universities and the largest university in Atlantic Canada with approximately 15,500 students and 12 Faculties.  This Endowed Chair is a tenured, senior academic position, and was established by Dalhousie to: contribute to the field of Black Canadian Studies; advance Black studies in the university; and establish better links with the wider community, especially the African Canadian community. This will be Dalhousie’s third appointment to the James R. Johnston Chair in Black Canadian Studies, and is being recruited to one of three faculties: Faculty of Science (Psychology), Faculty of Computer Science, or Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (Social Anthropology).
The appointment is effective July 1, 2011. The closing date for applications is August 25, 2010.

The Anthropology Department invites applications for a 1 year, non-regular type 2 (50%) position in Cultural Anthropology beginning September, 2010. This entails teaching four courses: some set courses in addition to multiple sections of Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Sept, 2010 – Apr. 2011.

A Ph.D. in Anthropology is preferred, but consideration will also be given to candidates who are ABD. Candidates will have an outstanding teaching record in Cultural Anthropology and a good record of research accomplishments. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach some combination of the following: First Nations Cultures of Canada, Methods and Ethics in Anthropology, Cross-Cultural Women’s Studies, Culture and Environment, Anthropological Theory, Culture, Community and Well-Being (medical anthropology).

Assistant Professor: 2-year Term Appointment

Position:  Assistant Professor – Definite Term Position

University of Waterloo – The Department of Anthropology invites applications for a 2-year definite term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing September 1, 2010.

The candidate should be prepared to teach courses in indigenous peoples in Canada and elsewhere, religion and spirituality, and other topics in cultural anthropology.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology, teaching experience, and an ongoing research program.  The department has a flourishing undergraduate program and a joint M.A. Program in Public Issues Anthropology with the University of Guelph and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the graduate program.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
