Culture Newsletter: Call for submission of articles and events

Culture is CASCA’s bi-annual and bilingual electronic newsletter. We are currently accepting articles and discussion pieces, news items, event announcements, and book notes for the Spring 2024 issue.

In this edition of Culture, we invite members of CASCA to draw inspiration from the theme of the annual conference – “Sedimented Histories, Vital Trajectories” – which will take place between May 15 and May 18, 2024, at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan campus) in Kelowna.

Echoing the connections that weave the past with the present and the future, this theme encourages us to reflect on the trajectories that link our predecessors and mentors to our current practices. Take advantage of this year, as CASCA celebrates its 50th anniversary, to highlight the vitality and flourishing of Canadian anthropology by sharing your work, whether it relates to the decolonization of the discipline, liberatory pedagogical development, or collaborative forms of inquiry.

We are happy to accept both written text and audio, video, or other kinds of multimodal works. We additionally encourage submissions in French, as well as submissions engaging with topics in any of the four anthropological fields.

Submissions (500 to 1000 words, photos and video encouraged) should be made by March 8, 2024

Please send your submissions and inquiries to: Rine Vieth, Anglophone Member at Large at cascaenmemberatlarge@gmail.com and/or Emmanuelle Bouchard-Bastien, Francophone Member at Large at cascamembreactiffr@gmail.com.
