tenure-track, full-time teaching and research position in Indigenous Studies.
Job description
An assistant professor position to teach and carry out research in anthropology, with a specialization in Indigenous
Studies on the current realities and issues facing the Indigenous peoples of Canada, preferably Quebec.
• Teaching a variety of core and optional undergraduate and graduate courses offered by the Department;
• Supervising graduate students (MA and PhD levels);
• Developing a distinctive research programme with publishing in peer-reviewed journals;
• Performing administrative and academic duties for the Department, the Faculty and the University.
Selection criteria
1. Have completed a PhD in anthropology or a degree deemed equivalent by the Search Committee; applicants
with confirmed defence dates may also apply.
2. The capacity to supervise both undergraduate and graduate students in French (if not already fluent, a support
programme is available).
3. Applications from aboriginal persons will be received favourably.
More specifically, applicants must have:
a. conducted significant anthropological fieldwork;
b. a track record of scholarly publications;
c. teaching experience.
Conditions of appointment and salary
Salary established by the current collective agreement for the rank of assistant professor.
