Dr Brian Noble holds a BA (1979), MA (1994), and PhD (2000) in Anthropology from the University of Alberta. Between undergraduate and graduate studies, he worked in local and international museums projects, supported Indigenous cultural Repatriation actions, was appointed to various interpretation, writing, cultural, arts, communication, project director positions. Over the 1980s, he founded and directed the Canada-China Dinosaur Project along with the Indigenous Peoples Tipi-Yurt Exchange in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia & Piikanii Blackfoot territories. He joined the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at Dalhousie University in 2002, retiring from teaching in 2025. During his time at Dalhousie, he held visiting professorships at the University of Victoria and the University of Otago and a visiting Fulbright Chair at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. Dr Noble works on settler-state / Indigenous relations and action anthropology, with the goal of decolonization, as well as on the anthropology of museums, science and technology and relations between human and non-human worlds.
