At the Chair of Social and Cultural Anthropology, we examine global inequalities from a critical perspective. In particular, we are interested in the production of categories of difference and their manifold effects. Focusing on the intersection of knowledge and politics, we ask how different political subjectivities are formed at this juncture. Our teaching focuses primarily on the areas of political and economic anthropology, the history of anthropology, critical race studies, postcolonial and feminist theories, and science and technology studies (STS) – we are also happy to integrate new fields. Additionally, we are also promoting public anthropology as a research field and a critical practice.

We are seeking a dedicated postdoc scholar to strengthen and enrich these focus areas. The position (3 plus 3 years) offers opportunities for independent academic research and for acquiring further qualifications (e.g. preparing a profile for a research group leader or habilitation), including teaching experience. Further academic qualification is expressly encouraged.
