The Centre for Rural Health Studies (CRHS) at Memorial University of Newfoundland is seeking two highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to contribute to community-engaged, applied rural health research focused on improving healthcare in rural areas in Newfoundland and Labrador, including the development of a Learning HealthCare Community. These positions are ideal for candidates with a strong interest in rural health, community engaged research, learning health systems, and strengthening clinician and community research capacity. Applicants should clearly indicate which position they are applying for (or if they wish to be considered for both).

1. Postdoctoral Fellow – Rural Health Research

Ideal background: • Public health, epidemiology, health services research, population health, or related disciplines • Experience in applied rural health research, health equity, or community-engaged research • Strong qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research skills

2. Postdoctoral Fellow – Medical Education & Learning HealthCare Community

Ideal background: • Medical education, health professions education, education research, or related disciplines • Experience with curriculum development, program evaluation, faculty development, or educational scholarship • Interest in research capacity building, and Learning HealthCare Communities

About the Role Both Postdoctoral Fellows will: • Lead and support applied research projects with rural physicians, healthcare teams, learners, and community partners • Design studies, prepare ethics submissions, and conduct data analysis • Contribute to the development of a Learning HealthCare Community • Mentor students and research assistants • Prepare manuscripts, reports, and knowledge mobilization products • Contribute to grant writing and program development within CRHS Position Details • Full-time, 12-month appointments (with possibility of extension) • Location: Memorial University, St. John’s, NL, with engagement across rural Newfoundland and Labrador • Start date: Flexible • Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications How to Apply Please submit the following to Dr. Shabnam Asghari sasghari@mun.ca before September 30 th, 2026.
